  Harnessing the power of the Internet
  In this three hour hands on session you will be given an overview of how the Internet works, how browsers work, how to use search engines effectively, how ecommerce works, anti-virus and security, an overview of some of the best resources there are on the Internet and much more.
 
  Communicating over the Internet
  In this three hour hands on session you will find out how to get the best out of email, sending and receiving attachments, joining and starting newsgroups, chat, instant messaging, how to avoid spreading viruses, what to do about spam and much more.
 
  Learning opportunities on the Internet
  In this two hour hands on session you will find out what learning opportunities there are on the Internet, what you can learn for free, what you have to pay for, how to enroll and how to make sure your certification is recognized.
 
  Your future is here: the Internet for young people
  The Internet offers many opportunities for young people - whether it'a acquiring new skills by learning online, joining groups of people with shared interests, making friends or even working over the Internet. This two hour hands on course is designed to show young people what the Internet has to offer.
 
  The Internet for Women
  In order to break the digitial divide more women should be taking advantage of the opportunities the Internet has to offer. This three hour hands on course is targetted at women to give them an overview of resources available including learning resources, helping children with schoolwork, protecting children from unpleasant sites, health resources and much more.
 
  Web design - Basic
  Learn how to make a single web page with headings, text, images and links in this two and half hour session. One and a half hours is spent in a group session learning the basics of HTML and one hour is spend hands-on making your own web page.
  (To take this course you should know how to surf the web and use a basic text editor such as Notepad.)
 
  Web design - Advanced
  Following on from the Basic Web Design course become a webmaster by taking this course of five sessions. Each session is two and a half hours long - one and half hours is spent in a group session learning html and one hour is spent with hands on practice. By the end of this course you will be able to make a full web site.
  (To take this course you should have taken the Basic Web Design session or have a basic knowledge of html)
 
  Understanding web graphics
  Learn how to make graphics for the web. In these three two hour hands-on sessions understand the browser-safe colour palette and how to decrease download time. Understand the difference between jpgs and gifs. Make a logo and understand anti-aliasing. Make an animated gif, rollover and image map. By the end of this course you will be able to make graphics for web pages.
  (To take this course you should have taken the advanced web design course or have a good understanding of html. Experience of a graphics programme such as Adobe Photoshop or Corel Draw would be an advantage but is not necessary.)
 
  Scanning & digital photography
  Learn about how to use a scanner to scan documents and pictures. Find out about taking photographs for the web using a digital camera. Learn how to process photographs to optimize download time while retaining quality.
 
  eCommerce: selling on the web
  This course will teach you how to sell your products on the Internet using the popular software Actinic. You will be taken step by step through setting up your ecommerce site and will also learn about your options for taking credit cards over the Internet.
